One of Those Days

Wow! It has been one of those days !! :o)

I am a church treasurer and I had an audit this morning. It went very well, but an audit on a Monday morning??? ;o) The auditor left just after noon time, and then we had to fly out the door to the doctor for my Little Sweetie's recheck appointment. The doctor listened to his lungs and ordered an xray. So what should have been a quick trip turned into 1 1/2 hours. I am glad that our doctor is thorough though. The doctor prescribed 5 more days of the antibiotics that he is taking. We go back Friday for another recheck.

Sooooo, my day went really really fast !! :o)

I want/need to make a scrapbook for my mom for her birthday which is next week. All of my other days are looking pretty booked up too, so it will be a challenge to get the pages done. I'm aiming for at least 15 pages and then I can make more to give her later. She'll be pleased with that I think, because she really likes my Little Sweetie's album. I have some other things for her to, but the album will be her main gift.

I truly feel like I am running on high gear. I've rushed around so much today that I feel like I'm running on a treadmill. :o) I think I'll use that to my advantage and get started on my mom's album.

Scrapbooking fun

These are 2 mini scrapbooking kits I made for a swap that I in in my scrapbooking group.

Each kit includes 9 - 3.5" x 3.5" squares of pattern and plain paper, a tag, and journal box. There are brads and eyelets too, but I didn't include them in the pictures.

For this one, I used browns with a hint of turquoise. The journal box is on confetti cream cardstock. I traced an index card divider and added lines. Then I stamped it with circles using brown and turquoise ink. The tag is done similarly and I stapled the ribbon to the top of the tag.

This set is pretty much the same just using greens and reds instead. There are lines on the index card journal box, but they aren't really showing up in the pictures. The red ribbon is stapled to the tag.

I made doubles of these, so I could have a set of each to work with. I think this is how I will use them in my Little Sweetie's album.

The large pieces of cardstock (red/beige)in the middle of the layouts is for matting the picture.

Back to (almost) Normal

My Little Sweetie is feeling much better today. :o) He wanted breakfast but only nibbled and things, but it's a start. I think we could have homeschooled today, however I thought I'd let him have an extra day to rest up. We do a 4 day school week, so he will have tomorrow off anyway. I did get out our Boggle game and we palyed that for a little bit. (spelling) We may play some other games after if he is feeling up to it. Games are alot of fun, and its learning too, but kids only see it as a fun time. Sneaky isn't it??!!

Well My Little Sweetie is hungry so I'm off to make him something. It's antibiotic time too. :o)

Feeling Better

Well, my Little Sweetie seems to be feeling better today. I had my doubts this morning when he couldn't keep anything down. I was concerned about that. I called the Dr and they told me to bring him over this afternoon. He said he may have a touch of flu as well and to continue on with the antibiotics. He still doesn't have much of an appetite, but he is drinking and keeping it down. His energy level seems to be getting back to normal too. :o) So I will pray that he will keep getting better each day. We go back next week for a recheck.

On a funny note....on the way home I told him he could have a popsicle when we got home. He said, "Being sick does have its rewards." :o) A popsicle hardly seems like a good reward for how awful he's been feeling, but I'm glad he has such an optimistic outlook. :o)

My Little Sweetie is still not feeling well :o(

My Little Sweetie is still under the weather. I wish it was me instead of him. I am hoping that once the antibiotics start to work then he will begin feeling better. His lungs sound better to me. His fever is still going up a bit and his appetite is non-existent. He will drink a little bit and have a popsicle, but not nearly as much fluid intake as I would like. Maybe a good nights sleep will do wonders. Of course I am praying for him constantly too. It breaks my heart to see him so sick and tired.

Please say a prayer that he'll get better soon. Thank you.

Happenings around here

Well, my little sweetie is sick. He hadn't been feeling well most of the weekend, but yesterday it really hit him. So I took him to the Dr this afternoon, and he has bronchitis. He's had it before, so when he gets so he's not feeling well I listen to his lungs. They sounded raspy to me, and sure enough. Poor little man was sick tonight and tried to get to the washroom , but just couldn't make it. . :o) When I am checking on him he says, "Sorry"(for the mess on the floor). Of course I told him not to worry a thing about that. I told him I'd get him a face cloth, but he insisted it not be his Toronto Maple Leafs one. I guess it is too special for that situation. :o)

Since he wasn't feeling well, we skipped school today. I tried several different times to change the look of my blog, but it just didn't work. I found some nice templates that I liked, but for some reason they wouldn't work. So I guess this will have to do. Don't be surprised if you stop by and it's changed again. :o)

Make a wish come true

A little boy named Shane is battling leukemia. His wish is to collect enough birthday cards by May 30th to get into the Guiness World Book of records.

Nicole has more information on her blog.

You can read more about Shane and his struggle here.

New Look!

I decided to change the look of my blog. This looked alot brighter than my other template. I think I like it?? I'll see I guess. I may end up changing it again. :o)

Have a great day!

Learning to Sign

I've been wanting for a while to learn to sign using this book that I've had for several years now. My book is an older edition and doesn't have any colored pictures, but it is great.

I spent the afternoon learing some simple sentences, and going over the alphabet again. Instead of learning just the words, I tried to do it in the context of the sentences so I would retain more.

I had first learned some basic signing about 13 years ago. I worked at a daycare and used some signing to communicate with the little boy I looked after, as his speech was delayed. (He was the Bible/ring bearer at our wedding)

After he started school, his mom convinced doctors that he needed tubes in his ears. Sure enough once he got the tubes he could understand what others were saying and learned the pronunciation.

So I bought this book thinking I would 'get around to it one of these days'. :o) Finally today I said I am going to try to get it. I am so excited by the little bit I've learned so far. Can't wait to learn more. :o)

I finally figured it out !!

Finally !! I have figured out how to make the links in my posts clickable. I have always seen this done on other blogs I've visited, but I just couldn't seem to get it to work for me. Then I found Bloggong Basics 101 and I got it !! I know it's not rocket science but wow it feels great to learn something new. :o)

Internet Safety

I just read this post by Shannon at Rocks In My Dryer.

It is about why she doesn't post pictures of her children on her blog. I'm new to blogging and wondered if it was safe to do so or not. Anyway, after reading her post I decided to remove the pictures I posted here of my son. I left one that wasn't showing his face, but all the others have been removed and I also removed his name.

Also, Shannon suggested in another post about using a site meter.

I have more to learn about blog safety, but this is a good start. Is there anything else you can suggest to keep blogs safe??

Please be safe.

Edited to add: I just checked my site meter, which had only be added less than 15 minutes ago, and was sickened to see what people are searching for. I am so glad that I took my DS's pictures off of my blog and that I added the site meter.

Works for me Wednesday

Last year we made Valentine Mice. Little Sweetie delivered these to the community helpers in our town. For example, he took them to the bank, the post office, doctor's office & library. We got the idea from a Family Fun magazine.

The mouse is made from a large red construction paper heart that has been folded in half and glued, but leaving an opening at the backend. The ear is half of a small pink construction paper heart. The nose is drawn on with marker.

And the tail is a lollipop that is inserted into the back opening. :o)

Family Fun Idea

Here is an activity we did a few Sabbaths ago. This was something DS saw on a Veggie Tales DVD.

There were 3 of us. So, DS gave us each 4 index sized cards. 2 cards were to write something nice(1-2words) about one of the others and the other 2 cards were to do the same for the other person. So DS used 2 cards to write words describing me and 2 cards to write words describing his dad. I used 2 cards to write about DS and 2 cards for hubby. Hubby used 2 cards to write about DS and 2 cards for me. When we were done we taped the cards to the person they were for/about. This was such a fun and encouraging activity.

Hope I described it oaky. :o)

Some of the words we used were.......
Sweet
Loving
Hardworking
Helpful
Kind

We still have our cards. They're keepers for sure. :o)

Hope you all have a great weekend! :o)
