It's interesting that, when I looked back over my blog, I was reading things that I had forgotten all about, but was so glad that I recorded them here. Something happened back on March 12 that I want to be sure I make a note of.
On that evening I had to run out to the store. It had just started to snow very slightly and my son thought that I shouldn't go. He said the things I was going for weren't important. lol :o) I knew that the roads would be fine and reassured him that I would be okay. He knew I was going to go when he saw me putting my boots on. He came over to me and said, "Well, let's have prayer before you go." and then he proceeded to pray for me to have a safe drive to and from the store.

Thoughts from a Walk
It is quite warm here today! Thankfully, there is the occasional breeze across the fields.
My son and I went for a walk this afternoon. A little too warm, but we went just the same. We weren't too far from the house when guess who's hand was in mine? :o) I wrote about that a while back. lol! I guess he isn't getting too big for that just yet. I'm glad that we have the kind of bond that makes that a natural reaction. That said, he did let go of my hand yesterday as we were walking across a parking lot because there was a boy there about his age. I guess he didn't think that would be very cool. ;o)
While on our walk, we saw the neighbors cows. They were all congregated together. I commented on that and my son said maybe they were having church. :o) I said probably not because it's only Tuesday. He said maybe prayer meeting instead. lol Funny little man. :o)
Anyway, it turned out I had to finish the walk myself as my husband came along on the 4 wheeler (a friend is storing it here) and since it was so warm our son decided to hop on the back. They offered me a drive, but I wanted the exercise. They kindly came back to the house and got me a big ol' jug of water and then rode along side of me for company. :o)

My Little Sweetie's Thoughts on People
I just wanted to share a couple of things that my Little Sweetie said.
On Sunday, we were at a restaurant. An elderly lady walked past our table on the way to her table. Little Sweetie said, "How come old people are so much cuter than young people?" Thankfully I don't think the lady overheard him. :o)
Today, I told Little Sweetie that we might be getting together with some new friends we recently met. He says, "I like (younger brother of new friend). He talks cute. Little kids are so cute aren't they?"
Oh and I almost forgot.....the other night Little Sweetie asked me, "Mom are you happy to be affiliated with me?" :o) Of Course !! :o)

Feeling Better
Well, my Little Sweetie seems to be feeling better today. I had my doubts this morning when he couldn't keep anything down. I was concerned about that. I called the Dr and they told me to bring him over this afternoon. He said he may have a touch of flu as well and to continue on with the antibiotics. He still doesn't have much of an appetite, but he is drinking and keeping it down. His energy level seems to be getting back to normal too. :o) So I will pray that he will keep getting better each day. We go back next week for a recheck.
On a funny note....on the way home I told him he could have a popsicle when we got home. He said, "Being sick does have its rewards." :o) A popsicle hardly seems like a good reward for how awful he's been feeling, but I'm glad he has such an optimistic outlook. :o)

Works for me Wednesday
Last year we made Valentine Mice. Little Sweetie delivered these to the community helpers in our town. For example, he took them to the bank, the post office, doctor's office & library. We got the idea from a Family Fun magazine.
The mouse is made from a large red construction paper heart that has been folded in half and glued, but leaving an opening at the backend. The ear is half of a small pink construction paper heart. The nose is drawn on with marker.
And the tail is a lollipop that is inserted into the back opening. :o)

Family Fun Idea
Here is an activity we did a few Sabbaths ago. This was something DS saw on a Veggie Tales DVD.
There were 3 of us. So, DS gave us each 4 index sized cards. 2 cards were to write something nice(1-2words) about one of the others and the other 2 cards were to do the same for the other person. So DS used 2 cards to write words describing me and 2 cards to write words describing his dad. I used 2 cards to write about DS and 2 cards for hubby. Hubby used 2 cards to write about DS and 2 cards for me. When we were done we taped the cards to the person they were for/about. This was such a fun and encouraging activity.
Hope I described it oaky. :o)
Some of the words we used were.......
Sweet
Loving
Hardworking
Helpful
Kind
We still have our cards. They're keepers for sure. :o)
Hope you all have a great weekend! :o)

Scrubbing the floor
Wow!! Now there's a catchy title.
Fun! Fun! Okay not really, but for some reason my son was determined that he was going to scrub the floor tonight. ;o) It was on my 'to do' list, and once he saw the mop well that was it. So my hubby swept the floor and I got the bucket of water ready. I wrung the water out and showed DS how to scrub. After he completed a little area, I dipped the mop again and wrung it out. Well guess who thought he should ring the mop out?? (He wasn't being bossy, just really wanting to help and be independant.) So we comprimised, I held the mop handle up over the bucket and twisted in one direction and, he held the wet part of the mop and twisted in the other direction. A perfect compromise really, that worked wonderfully................well that is until we twisted a bit too much and heard a snapping sound. :o) Yes, one of the plastic thingys that holds the mop strands on broke. It didn't look like much damage was done, plus we were almost done.
You know how dominoes fall?? It all happens so fast you can't stop them! The mop had a domino moment. The next swipe of the mop the strands were falling off faster than I could blink. :o) It's quite funny! ;o)
I like that he wants to help out around our house. Last fall he wanted to learn how to use the washing machine. He knew I had to have minor surgery and wouldn't be able to do laundry or other chores for a while. So I showed him how to start and run the machine. It didn't take long until he decided he had it figured out and he could do it by himself. The next load of laundry he told me he could do by himself. I watched and only had to remind him to set the water level differently. I offered to help with the soap, but he said he needed to learn so he could do it when I was getting better. :o) :o) :o) Now I can send him to the washer and dryer if I need to, and he is pleased as punch to be able to help out.
With homeschooling I think kids learn a lot of life skills that maybe they wouldn't otherwise learn. I'm happy that he has the desire to want to learn and help out. He sees his dad help out too, which is very important.
I am amazed every day at the little man he is becoming. :o)

Big boy now :o)
We were in town today running errands. We had to cross the parking lot and then a little lane of traffic to get to one of the stores. I told DS to take my hand. He kindly told me, "I'm getting too big to hold your hand." :o) Of course I know the day is/was coming when he would be too big for it, but I didn't think today would be the day. My heart had one of those...'My baby is growing up' moments. ;o) So, I told him that was okay and he could walk beside me. He did and we got what we needed at that store. I had to smile on our way back to the van......guess who was holding my hand?? Neither of us really realized it at the time. I noticed it later as we went into the grocery store. It's just an automatic reaction to get out and take each other's hand. I guess he forgot that he's a 'big boy'. :o) And that's okay with me. :o)

From the mouth of a child.....24/6
Today as we drove through our little rural community, on our way to church, we saw several folks out on their 4 wheelers. Ds (8) would love to have a 4 wheeler, though it's not something that we are planning on getting him. ;o) Anyway because of his keen interest in them, they did not go unnoticed.
He spoke up from the back seat and said, "If I had a wheeler, I'd be on it 24/6!"
Being used to the common term 24/7 I said, "Don't you mean 24/7?"
He replied, "No I meant 24/6. I wouldn't be on it on Sabbath."
It was a wonderful moment. One of those moments you feel that God has just smiled on you.
